The former president of the World Bank, Ismail Serageldin, has stated, “If the wars of this century were fought over oil, the wars of the next century will be fought over water.” In contrast, the first recorded peace treaty was forged in ancient Mesopotamia 4,500 years ago. It was a treaty over water. Today, we are seeing that worldwide. Warring nations that lie side by side geographically, find that there is one issue they MUST agree upon. That is water.

ASD believes that the richest man and the smallest plant are equal in that we all need water to survive. Because water IS life, it is a place where we all agree and can take the opportunity to cooperate.
